This work pays tribute to contributions the following Gambian medical stalwarts left as legacy to the country. Even though all in this work are deceased this is no requiem mass for them but a way of saying big thank you and recognition of their service to our fledgling nation. Many colonial doctors from the former British West Africa Regiment voluntarily chose to say and help out in the health delivery sector during the 1940s colony of the Gambia. Dr Frederic Richard Paine, who served as Medical Superintendent, stands out as unique for remaining with the Gambia for years after her gaining independence. The rest are all indigenous Gambians who sacrificed the salary, luxury and greater opportunities of Europe and America to return to bring medical relief to Gambia the smiling coast of West Africa. We salute these golden hearts and vow to do more for Gambia to keep their shining examples fruitful for all.I write to raise funds for building of Njawara village hospital.
