Egyptian Sultan of the Fatimid caliph’s demand for an instrument now called a pen that would not stain his majestic dress or hands led in 953 to the invention of the pen. This as history shows turned the pen into one of the most used instruments in academic sphere. The advent of the papyrus which was later turned into paper in 751 and mass manufactured in 794 AD in Baghdad by Yusuf bin Omar and exported to Europe and other countries. Earliest known record of use of a pen was in the 10th century AD. The pen is used in writing of the United States constitution. This new found paper gave our pen daylight as it expands its use. There is no facet of life not touched by recording done by the pen, even where the modern generation is more aware of the computer keyboard and digital inventions like it. This work is in recognition of this marvelous writing instrument known to be mightier than the sword. It is power of the pen I am using to call attention to a much needed, but neglected healthcare service to rural Gambia. I write to raise funds for building of njawara village hospital.
