Honourable Sidia Sana Jatta, Wuli National Assembly Member (NAM) is an exceptional gift to the Gambia. Born in 1945 of farming parents who are custodians of the Mandinka, culture, and tradition. Young Sidia Sana Jatta grew to become a shining gift as will be revealed in these pages. He had his Primary education at Baja Kunda and later Mansajang Kunda Primary school. He completed his secondary schooling at Nungua High School in Ghana. Whence, he returned to the Gambia and enrolled at the Yundum Teacher Training College from 1964 to 1966. He thereafter taught in various Primary and secondary schools before gaining enrolment at the university of Grenoble, France in 1972, where he studied from 1973 to 1978 and obtained both his undergraduate and master’s degrees in Linguistics. On returning to the Gambia, he served at the Curriculum Development Centre from 1978 to 1983. In addition, he also was from 1980 to 1982 a research fellow at the International African Institute, London. Sidia resigned in protest of poor performance of the ruling PPP government and a congress formed party called the people’s Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism (PDOIS) in 1986. His full story continues in the unfolding pages. I write to raise funds for building of village hospital at Njawara, the Gambia.
